An interesting morsel of gossip is that the land it's going to be built on was sold to the Sultan of Brunei during the crash. I wonder if he is simply looking for a small return on his investment or perhaps something a little more substantial........

The concept was Low, Medium & High density mix with a parkland and walking tracks to join Mall of Emirates to Madinat. Such a shame they chose the most god aweful option simply because of the Mall!!
