When I was thinking of buying my Chevy mutawwa-mobile Tahoe I was hearing all those horror stories about it handling like a bar of soap in a prison shower, rocking all over the place like a boat in super storm, even when you slum shut the door when you come home in the evening it will still be rocking in the morning and that kind of stuff. It is completely unfounded, I can say after 10 months experience with it. I do not find it much different from XC90 which I drove for years. Ok, BMW X5 is better but the car I have is nowhere near a disaster that was predicted by some.

All 4x4's are a bit wobbly to be honest. As you said the only one that seems a bit better is the X5 although that also feels ridiculously close to rolling if you push it through a corner. You do get used to it over time though..

It's a lot worse when normal cars understeer like crazy as you kind of don't expect it. I had an Audi A3 a long time ago and that was more than exciting a few times when a bit too much speed was kept into a sharp bend. Re Yank cars I test drove a Charger R/T a few years ago and that felt like I would have to go straight over roundabouts rather than slide around them if you gave it some stick..

I had a Tahoe xl or whatever and it wallowed like a hippo, a long sweeping corner would have it keel over like I was entering a banked turn in Nascar.
Compared with a pajero and landcruiser I had it was certainly a lot softer sprung and heavier i'd imagine.
It was a big ol' comfortable bus though I will give it that.

Get an Evoque? The old shape Range Rovers should be a bargain now that the new one's come out.

But the best ever? A Merc G65, no, not G55 or even G63, gotta go the whole hog and get a G65.

Al Ain Class Motors have some in...

This one has your name written all over it!

Or for true bling there's this one with the UAE crest in the centre armrest.

I can't imagine that changing the springs would be enough to make the car behave properly round corners mind. Considering you've driven Merc's in the past you surely know how cars should be as well..

Anyway I'm glad you're happy to drive a yank tank

What a bizarre thread.............

1st Rule of Life: Never buy an American car.
2nd Rule of Life: See 1st Rule of Life.

It is difficult to imagine a car more pointless than G65. Big petrol engine for what?? This is a true off road workhorse, I know as I had driven one years ago and never got stuck in the silliest of situations. But trying to put luxury interior and sports engine into this agricultural box is utterly pointless. Only Germans can come up with this stuff and only Arabs can buy this stuff. The tackiest American car has more style.

And btw Kix this is directed at the car not you, I know you are being sarcastic proposing this.

Buying an American car and having sex with someone really inappropriate is a must once in the life time. Otherwise you haven't really lived.

This is in addition to the 'must haves' for every man: be wounded and imprisoned once in the life time.

Have you seen the price of G65s? They want AED1,500,000!
