Say that a deal was done a few years ago re the release.

Well, in my opinion the SNP are a bunch of tossers trying to play government - the decisions they've made the last few years are shocking. Worst thing to happen letting them in - Scotland's political system with them on board has been a shambles.

Maybe...but most Scots disagree. Al Megrahi release fading into background. Latest poll 26 to 28 August in Mail on Sunday for Scottish Parliament voting intentions:

Not most Scots - over 2/3rds didn't vote for the SNP - but of course that's the constitution - majority party rules.

Good point and, as you say, 'majority party rules' but as a minority government, which provides good checks and balances as they have to convince other parties to participate and agree to pass legislation.

It is not like the yanks bank rolled the IRA for many years is it? Did we (The Brits) boycott the US?
They particulaly didn't like that snippet of info brought up when I reminded them just after 911.

True...but Mandela was also involved in the Lockerbie air disaster case, I think he was instrumental in getting the Libyans to agree to be tried in a Scottish court in the Netherlands (Camp Zeist), which was part of Scotland for a while !
