LIFE: 60 years pissing it up or 85 being careful?
Don't eat this,
Don't drink that,
Save up for your latter years,
get 8 hours kip a night,
Don't go there,
So, would you rather live your life how you please, don't go without life's pleasures, enjoy a drink, exercise if you want to, have a fry up, eat nice food, go out 4 nights a week, live for now and worry about the consequences later and probably have a shorter life
OR
Don't drink, get 10 hours kip, eat "all the right food", save up a nice little nest egg and maybe go without some niceties along the way, don't go out saturday ("because you went out already this week") and live until 85-90 but allways have minor regrets that you missed out somewhere?

I get about 3-4hours sleep a night
I go out with my friends and family as often as possible
My credit is not in the black
I don't have a pension
I've always tried to live by the mantra 'live each day as if its your last, have no regrets, be grateful for what you have and say what you mean".

I'd rather have shorter life that was fun than a long dull one. I won't be here again so what is the point of being here at all if you aren't enjoying it or laughing each day?

Who tho wants to be 80-90 and probably unable to control their own bowels when you could go out in an Ollie Reed blaze of glory style during a drinking competition with some US service men in a Maltese beach bar! Awesome!

Reason i know this, my friend was there
He was 61 years old and was reported to be heavily intoxicated at the time of his death. Racking up an $866 alcohol bill, Reed had reportedly drunk three bottles of Captain Morgan's rum, eight bottles of beer and numerous doubles of Famous Grouse whisky. He also beat five much younger Royal Navy sailors at arm wrestling at a bar called "The Pub."

sorry to correct you old bean, but Ollie Reid died after a drinking session with the Royal Navy...Yanks cant drink worth a ****..

That makes the story all the better!
My Old man is a bit like this. He is an ex british Marine who turned 70 last week and has now been travelling round the world having a laugh and getting pissed for approx 8 years now. Somewhere sunny for the summer and then to Bulgaria for the ski season in the winter. Mix in some rock climbing, trekking (he walked the length of the Pyranees 2 years ago) and obviously skiing and you have his life.
Sooooo jealous!
