Latest Times article on Dubai

If you aren't already bored with the Rugby 7s, here's the latest piece of journalism from the Times:

Let's dissect this one. May I start?

Who the hell believes the broad is paying only a thousand pounds a month for a villa on the Palm?

Can someone please give me the number for this 6,000dhs per month villa on the palm?

Yet another rehash piece... and here's another (albeit a bit more positive)

I like the tree shaped Island comment, yes mate, Palm Island, it is in the shape of a Palm. Not difficult.

I don't get it 'Ross' is totally broke, has hage loans, has borrowed from his family and friends and is now tryiing to decide whether to fly his family out for Christmas - duh. That's is such a good idea - let's rack up even more debt on the credit cards and then moan about it afterwards. He took a gamble with the property buying and he lost, tough but somethinig that happens all over the world - he wouldn't be moaning if he'd managed to flip it and make a fortune, but then that doesn't make good press I guess.

Latest on Radio 2 Dubai this morning was that Dubai will not be selling off any of its major assets to anyone as Dubai World has enough assets of their own to write off 26 billion of the debt, so all is rosy again:confused:

and just to provide a little balance, here is The Sun's take on Dubai's woes...

We’ll keep on partying... this place will never go under

Sipping champagne in 25°C December sun as bikini-clad women play beach ball in the pool, Paul confesses: "There are dozens of these brunches where you can get absolutely slaughtered.

"It's a fantastic place to be a single bloke. Tuesdays is ladies night in the bars and its wall-to-wall women. Loads of air hostesses are based here."

I struggle to see how a recruitment agent is earning anything here at the moment.

I'm also quite ashmed that the idiots they quoted were from Bromley & Beckenham. Too close to home for me.
