Last nights lightning storm

Re: Last nights lightning storm
No thunder?!?!?!!?!?
I was scampering under the dining table at some god for saken hour this morning due to the LOUDEST, longest clap of thunder I have ever heard. It was so loud that even my lady woke up (not an easy thing to do), rubbed her eyes and asked if the building next door was still standing upright!?!?
I live in the greens, did anyone else have a rather large bump in the night!?!?!
Awesome storm though!
I miss the rain!

Re: Last nights lightning storm
to both the above geeks.
I used a cannon G9
put on shutter priority set to 15 secs, used self timer of 2 seconds to ensure no hand shake and used a gorrila pod to keep it steady. Took about 100 shots to get 3 or 4 with lightning, none of the others are even close to this one though.
you gotta take a pic of nothing and hope that in the next 15 seconds there will be some lightning. with a decent camera you'd use the bulb setting but long exposures also work
in 20 odd yrs of photography this is one of the few times i've caught ligtning.
