Last meal on leaving the ME?

If/when you eventually leave these lands of sand, what would you choose as your last meal? Something "local", a five star meal, fast food?

I'd have to go for a shawarma (must include garlic sauce and a handful of chips) and a watermelon juice. Quintessential UAE foods to my mind.

Local food...Big Mac, large fries and a diet coke.

Yes. What I'd choose as a last meal when I eventually leave the ME.

I assume you haven't seen the latest Time Out and their cover story. It's free online.

It would have to be something like Reem Al Bawadi mixed grill, or a shawarma. Can get a fancy steak anywhere, might struggle to get that garlic paste stuff and chicken and nice bread and chips.

Oh god. I'm meant to be having sarnies for lunch but now can only think of shawarma.

My first full day here involved about 13 hours at Barasti. Been back a handful of times in the 4+ years since.

My last meal would be the same as my 1st. One last brunch.

I think a specific kind of food is something that miss no matter where you are and you cannot get it anywhere else no matter how much you try and find its like.

Like in Rawalpindi there was this place which made this Chicken Rajastani cheese boti (bbq) and well the name says it all I guess. I think I reduced my total living life by about 1 year by eating so much of that heart stopping calorie juggernaut!

Here in Dubai, I would have to go with this Chinese place close by which makes the best dumplings I have had ever! Yeah, if I go away I might be able to get other dumplings as well but not this perfect mixture.
aaaaaaand now I am having dumplings tonight....thanks! :sneaky:

Hummus, Metabel, fresh bread and alcohol-free beer. To be enjoyed to the background tape of high-class Koranic recitation.

Shawarma. Nothing else from the region beats it.
