You'll probably find that they've got plenty of things to talk about other that you or your issues or what you want to talk about.
If they are Spanish they are probably discussing the latest Barca/Real match, If they are German they are probably discussing how irresponsible and horrid those pesky Greeks are,
If they are Arabs they are probably discussing why they are all still at work at 14:00,
If they are French they are probably discussing whether soap is truly a daily requirement.
Who the **** knows.
Just call them all ******s and leave the room.

I had to reply "Hola lo siento, para interrumpir, pero hay algunas personas aquí que hablan español también - incluyendo a los Árabes." before they got themselves into some serious trouble.

Re: Language Barrier
Good thing about my little place here is that none of the locals speak enough English to pass 1st Certificate let alone understand if we're discussing our sex lives at full conversational speed.
Another good thing is that they don't always know that we speak perfect Italian so WE can understand them and what they might be saying about us. We've left a few places with a neat and tidy perfect goodnight and a sarky comment, leaving the locals gobsmacked.

Reminds me of a guy I knew when I was working in Taiwan. He was British and looked it, but spoke fluent Mandarin. He was in a lift with 2 local trolley dollies who were discussing sex lives, not realising this guy could understand every word. One of them had a new boyfriend and was trying to decide when to give in to the bloke's advances and have sex with him. The British guy kept quiet until they reached the floor where the 2 ladies got off. As they left the lift, he shouted after them in Mandarin, "don't wait too long!"
