Default Kindle

I've just bought one online. Am I right in thinking that I can only put books on it when I'm in the UK?

Or, can I download them via my VPL and transfer them from the PC to the device via USB?

I use the iPad Kindle app - you set the Amazon account as UK and use a UK credit card to pay and you can download from anywhere. No need for VPN.

I assume the Kindle is the same...

You can use a UAE credit card to pay if you want then browse either on Kindle or on the web site, choose your book click to purchase and it appears on your Kindle just like magic! Over wifi or 3G if you get the more expensive version.
Brilliant.

Just make sure you register the Kindle to a UK or US Amazon account or set up a new one; I think you need to enter an address in the location you want the account.
