We have tried bowling a few times but our little one really struggles to lift even the lightest ball and make it reach the other end before the skittles are automatically uplifted. Best for boys or for a mixed group of over 10's perhaps.

What about watch a film in the pool at the Arabian Ranches Polo Club (Thur, Fri and Sat evenings). They have a BBQ there too. I don't think it's too expensive either.

We have booked a Mad Science party. A little pricy at Dhs1,200 but they provide what looks like a good service. Will let you know how it goes.

But why ever not? Sounds much better to me than encouraging them to be narcissists by having their nails done, or similar, at that age.

What do they get to do at this young scientists thing mentalist?

Nothing too heavy. It seems to be run by Filipinos. They come to your villa and also provide a candy floss making machine.

Sure, no reason not to. Have to say though, given the choice of a "scientist" versus " a "nails, dress up "etc thing I know what I would have chosen when I was a little girl...heck, probably still would

the weird thing is, that even if you've really tried hard to bring up your children with no gender stereotypes, if put in a toyshop, your little girl will glide towards the sparkley things and the lad towards either things with wheels or pointy bits. It's quite surreal!
