I seem to remember being told that you should look for old blood as that's more indicative of a serious problem. Bright red just means its probably a haemorrhoid.

Yeah - you're right - but fresh blood needs urgent attention......... the old dried blood is black in colour, so watch out, people......... :thumbdown:
