Nice, even though not always possible, letting the furs to play outside is probably more appreciated.

Not here when the kids find it funny to shoot them with air rifles.

Mine couldn't be arsed to to all that climbing...way too lazy. They quite happily lie on the sofa

Having lost one cat to an Arab arsehole who was against cats, all my moggies have been inside cats. Furniture is unemotional.
A BMW 750iL goes up in flames splendidly ( or so I'm told-I'm not vindictive ( much))

On the whole, only non-cat people let their cats out in the middle east. At the moment, one is sitting on top of the printer, the other is loafing about on a pile of washing.

Genrally I agree with you. But, I think we must look at the individual case too. My cats are inside/outside cats. They would be very unhappy if kept only inside. I live on a fairly large compound, with many pets. I know that despite this, there is danger for my cats...still, I let them go outside if they want to. They are very well known on my compound by now....

Re: Just how much do you love your cat..
Just noticed an opposite neighbour of mine has glued those anti bird spikes along his wall. A) a bit of a waste of time as there's a giant tree in his garden the cats can get in and out by and b) it's not very well stuck on as a section of it 'came off in my hand' this morning. I fear another bit of it will prove to be as weak tomorrow morning also.
