Happy to consider a conspiracy theory for one side but not the other? Who's to say that the formation of bad Pr for the females weren't created to assist Assange. It works for everyone, particulary since Wikileaks is so adept at hacking, creating, stealing, why not?
If he attended court and went through proper proceedures, it would be public knowledge of all the evidence, charges etc for all to see. Let justice take it's course, no one should be exempt.

Because those cases have been sanctioned by the courts for the evidence to be presented through video.

It's somewhat presumptuous (but hardly surprising) of Assange to pull this stunt.

Don't all rush to put up any bail for this one. All the bail from friends and fans has gone down the swany because he won't crawl out of his hole. Didn't expect anything else really!

I found that to be a very good article.

I don't know about the "smiling picture" but I am sure that there are many pictures out there with smiling women with their husband/boyfriend even after a sex crime was committed by the partner. That might not happen towards the "rapists that jump out of the bushes" but I suppose that it might happen when the victim and the offender knows each other and has a relation of some sort.

Regarding the videolink or being interrogated at the embassy that is not how it is done in practice. I suppose that it would be possible under the current legislation to do so, but by doing so it would really be giving Mr Assange special treatment.

Imagine if you could be on trial in a criminal case using video link from a country far away. If you get convicted you don't go to whatever country it is and if you are not convicted everything is fine. Same principle in Assange's case but in an earlier stage. Furthermore, sufficient evidence has been shown to a court which has decided that he is to be arrested. Swedish courts might generally be a little overly reluctive to grant bail and put restrictions on people in jail (not to be confused with prison) but that is another discussion. However, we all know how Mr Assange adheres to his bail conditions.

That's allowed when courts sanction it - in this case they haven't.

You're suggesting Sweden's judiciary is not independent or able to put someone on trial in a reasonably fair manner. Sweden...not Turkey, North Korea or Iran (and other countries Assange doesn't leak damaging info about curiously) but Sweden.

This Assange fellow has certainly pulled the wool over many people's eyes hasn't he?
