Re: John Terry Trial
Can't stand JT - saw him once in AD when he stayed in AD and IMO him and his partner or is it wife should have been arrested for porn on the beach. Any other mortal would have been. They obviously were totally oblivious of the rules or perhaps couldn't give a monkeys. They probably had their holiday paid for by Hello or some such rag.

I reckon Ferdinand should also be in the dock on the charge of ' impersonating a professional footballer '

JT is back in the stand now. IMHO - AF being made to look a bit of a fool at the mo - seems his agent may have been th one who pursued him to raising the official complaint. |

Re: John Terry Trial
When you have to call on Ashley Cole as a character witness, you may indeed be in trouble.........
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-18791781 When asked by the prosecution about the case, Mr Cole replied: "We shouldn't be sitting here." Nevertheless, I agree with those who say Ferdinand is making himself look silly...... |

Re: John Terry Trial
Few thoughts.
Firstly, much as I don't think racist abuse is acceptable, I don't see why it should be treated any differently to other abuse. You can prefix an expletive with 'fat' or 'hairy' or 'bald', and that's ok, but if you use 'black', somehow that is criminal? Secondly, much as JT's personal life is rather public, and he does not exactly come out of it well, I would imagine that any abuse towards him relating to that is going to cause much more genuine upset and offence than a general racist comment to a black player might. Apparently the FA and the courts are fine with you hurling abuse of a deeply personal nature about someone's love life (no doubt with the intention to elicit a response), but if someone retorts to such provocation with a remark that mentions skin colour, suddenly it's a criminal case? Finally, it seems AF didn't even hear the abuse at the time which does tend to diminish the effect somewhat. Does it really need a 5 day court case to deal with this? Ferdinand has openly admitted to abusing JT regarding his personal life, but nobody is suggesting any punishment for this? |
