Jacqui Smith doesn't matter anymore. Nor do any Labour MP and ministers. Fact is, most of us are sitting around twiddling our thumbs and waiting for the day David Cameron takes over.
The tories did some half-arsed expense claims, but it's the Labour party that's dead, finished, kaput for the time being. Reshuffling the cabinet. So what? Talking about constitutional reforms. So what? Anything they do is meaningless just like anything John Major did in his last year in office.

Re: Jacqui Smith to resign as Home Secretary
I wouldnt bet on Ed Balls getting the Home Secretaries job after revelations earlier today!
Apparently Ed Balls (MP Normanton) and his wife Yvette Cooper (MP Pontefract & Castleford) have had more 'official' residencies than HM Queen over recent months, they have been chopping and changing or 'flipping' over their official designated residence.
Gordon Brown is considering appointing Ed Balls to 'Chancellor but an MP stated ' all hell will break lose' in the Labour Party if Balls is appointed!
Also...........two other Ministers and two MP's have also announced they are resigning/stepping down!
Goodbye Labour Party!

Re: Jacqui Smith to resign as Home Secretary
I can explain in further detail my political leanings, why I feel the right to vote should be earnt via difficult service of some kind (military, police, civic defence etc) until the booze kicks in and I revert to more interesting subjects like breasts...

Re: Jacqui Smith to resign as Home Secretary
I have a simple belief.
Anyone who wants to be a politician, especially straight out of university, should be immediately barred from politics for life.
How the hell can a career politician, ie someone who has never had a real job possibly begin to make and shape policy that effects a country where the majority live in the real world and work for a living.
Its a frankly ridiculous notion, the people who are making decisions which will have a huge impact on british business have never worked in a business, have never worried about p&l, employing staff, hiring and firing etc etc.
We have an NHS run by politicians and administraters, resulting in a service which now has more admin and managers than doctors, how is it even possible for that organisation to have more than 1 manager per doctor???
Would we give a bus drivers job to someone who couldnt drive?
Would we make a carpenter a surgeon?
Would you ask any individual with specialist skills to completely change career into a filed where they have no experience or knowledge every couple of years and run that field for the country......of course we bloody wouldnt, so why is it an acceptable practise in our politicians.
eg a recent past minister for transport and roads couldnt even drive.
Public service is and should be seen as an onerous task, undertaken by individuals who have real life experience, a sense of responsibility to the nation and a real fear of ****ing things up.
Instead we get a bunch of career politicians who have no sense of responsibility, no fear of the repercussions of their decisions and absolutely no experience of the real world, these individuals also seem to be quite willing to forgo their civic duty in favour of self improvement and self enrichment at the cost of the public whom the are supposed to serve........
Is it any wonder the world is ****ed
and dont even get me started on "spin"
