Sometimes it helps to be everyone's friend.

I'm going to Doha next week just to meet up with friends and hang out. No intention to change my plans, at least in the absence of Trumpageddon.
However Qatar Airlines Europe flights are forced to fly over Iraq / Iran rather than KSA. Hence chained to the "theater of operations".

Yes - if the EU says "no overflights over Iraq/Iran" or the insurers say "no coverage for planes that overfly Iraq/Iran" they are really stuffed.

How many hours' detour would it add to their Europe flights to have to go around Oman and Yemen and then Sudan and Egypt?

Several BA flights diverted/turned around last night as it was happening, avoiding Iraqi airspace.

The FAA (US) has now banned American operators from overflying Iraq, Iran, the Gulf of Oman, and the Arabian Gulf to prevent "misidentifications."

Several non-US airlines have said they will follow suit and adjust routes.

American operators don't fly those routes anyway, as far as I know.

9/10 "Canadians" in the UAE/Qatar were really Iranian or Egyptian or Lebanese or Indian.

Nice people, nonetheless.

'Canadian' on a CV means non-GCC Arab. End of story.

Unfortunately, purchasing an attractive passport doesn't change the education, upbringing or culture of an individual. If I could buy myself a non-GCC Arab passport I wouldn't suddenly seem or act like I'm from there, nor would I fit in culturally, socially, historically.

It's a shame that people need to do this because the region dictates things like earnings on nationality.

The three brits on the plane did not have Smith as a surname either.

There's a difference between what I said and complaining about the contents of the 'British' passport queue at Heathrow.

Donald Trump, Justin Trudeau say the plane was brought down by an Iranian missile.

The Iranians cant hit a target the size of King Khalid Airport. How does Trump expect them to hit an airliner doing 500 mph at 8,000 ft. My money is on a Russian S-300. Probably the same one that took down MH-17. The only difference being that on that occasion they were pretending to be Ukrainian separatists

To save anybody the trouble of pointing it out. The Hooties would not be able to find King Khalid Airport much less target it. That was the Iranians.

Well they've admitted they did it now.
