425 British nationals required consular assistance in the UAE in the period 1 April 2009 - 31 March 2010 for the following types of incident: 56 deaths, 31 hospitalisations, and 265 arrests (for a variety of offences). During this period, assistance was also requested about lost or stolen passports (246 cases).

It is estimated that one Western expat dies in Dubai each day.That's 365 a year, so how many would be Brits? 56 in the UAE a year doesn't sound high when you look at it that way.

Having had a few conversations with insurance companies about death claims, there is a higher than average (compared to home country) number who die in car accidents. Otherwise it is the ever popular cancer, stroke and heart disease.
