You could save more by occasionally shopping elsewhere. Go on, shake it up a little!

Who said this was specifically related to Spinneys? I never go there as it's not near.

No one but you know that so many expats only shop there and pay their daft prices.

You're right. I try to. Sometimes I got to the big Waitrose down in Jumeirah / US.

;)

The world's coldest supermarket? You should call in for coffee. If you keep paying those prices you won't be able to afford to buy it yourself!

Re: Inflation

the other day I brought a small box of cherries from Spinneys..frigging AED 55 dirhams...If I was living back home I would never spend over a tenner for cherries:ohmy:
things are definitely getting expensive.
I use to pay apprx AED 70 from the airport to the marina/jlt...last week when I got back from the UK I paid AED 110...I asked the taxi driver why so much and he said they had been told to increase the fares

Taxi drivers need to charge more to pay for their weekly quotas of cherries.

Why hasn't Iggle appeared to make a joke about Mission's cherries, popping them etc etc?

Iggles is PinkMinnow's alter ego. PinkMinnow's repressed sexuality and abhorrence of the naked male form comes out in Iggle's imagined straight relationship with Oksana, but lived out in reverse reality with Vlad and Boris.

Sometimes I wish I didn't have an imaginative intellect.

Re: Inflation

Back to inflation....;)

In Abu Dhabi, off the top of my head...

rents now have a 3% tax
Tawtheeq now costs 1000AED at first registration
electric/water went up by about 10% average this year
School fees are up around 6% from last year
Hotel tax at 4% so all purchases in hotels for food and drink are now at 20% tax

also due soon...

We have VAT being implemented in next year or two
In Abu Dhabi Road User congestion charging has been out to tender and may get implemented next year
National press talking about more toll roads at a federal level...
