Inappropriate behaviour finally clarified

In The National today there is a report which states basically that, nudity, kissing, holding hands, dancing and playing loud music is all indecent behviour and considered inappropriate by Dubai Government.

They'll have to close the city down then.........

As long as phone sex and mobile masturbation is allowed, we're safe...

Exactly. There is a competition on at the moment to come up with the most ridiculous rules possible to further decimate any form of industry related to fun.....just can't be allowed to continue.

so its cool for two male indian workers to hold hands, as there is nothing sexual in it, but not cool for a lawfully married couple..

obviously not, that's finger sex..

I hold my wife's hand all the time when we are shopping, its the only way I can stop her from buying things..

Puritanism: The haunting fear that someone, somewhere may be happy.

Exactly. I'm sure they would ask for your marriage license for that.

What about local men sticking their tongues out to a woman? That's not explicitly stated and I'm sure they could get a pass for doing that.

It's nice to see Dubai government instructing adults on how to conduct themselves!

How about the indecent driving, lack of manners when standing in a line, shouting on the mobile, staring and not minding your own business?

I'd like to see them issue a report about those things as well...

I am wondering if this means that Ramadan will get strickter again...over the past years more and more places have stayed open during the day and you could see people on the beach for instance eating and drinking...maybe that will change now...

What about when locals greet each other by kissing sometimes, they either do that nose thing or kiss each other on the cheeks - is that now banned then?

I also like the rule about queuing - being British I'm all for it, but can't see the Locals going for it, or other Asians for that matter, they just don't get it.

If you read the rules I think it says that married couples are allowed to hold hands but unmarried couples are not. Presumably two Indian males would not constitute a married couple so they had better watch out.

When we flew back to Sharjah a few weeks ago these two little tarts just walked right to the front of the passport queue, in front of me and mrs spugsy, in fact she stood on my foot, I had to give her a gentle shove,

It was good to see the local guy come over and send them back to the queue, they really thought they could just do what they wanted.

And they weren't locals either.

Spugsy, I think I have told everyone on here the story of the Scandinavian guy who refused to let a local jump the queue at Immigration. He was deported within one week, simply because the local happened to be well connected. Think before you act over here.

There is a cycle path down Jumeirah Beach Road, not that i'd want to use though. Drivers along there are totally insane!

The kissing cheeks greeting is arab tradition its not just UAE.

As with queues, its like people here don't know what that word means.

Well that drugs rule pretty much rules out many modern medical practises . Whoever wrote that code of conduct should be taken out into the desert (or man made forest) and killed until dead.

If those things are mentioned the jails will be full of rude drivers and people who stare...

That's not going to happen though. It's more degrading and dangerous to their society for a woman to wear a spaghetti strap top in a mall and mind her own business than for mad men to drive like...well, mad men.

Still it's their country...most of us won't stay forever and come from far more open places so no big deal if they want to live in a place where common human signs of affection and love are illegal in public.
