Default I'm turning Em'rati

I'm turning Em'rati
I think I'm turning Em'rati
I really think so

Well, Arab at any rate ("I'm turning Arabic" doesn't scan). Twice in the last two days I've been mistaken for an Arab. First, a lady at the bar commented how good my English was. I said I bloody hoped it was. And yesterday a Palestinian got into the lift and said something in Arabic (I think it was "good morning"), to which I replied in English, and he asked me why I spoke to him in English and not Arabic. It transpired that he'd lived in England for many years, so should have been accustomed to ugly English bastards like me. Should I ditch the dish-dash?

Yours confused.

My husband is always being mistaken for an Arab- he thinks it's cos he's dark. I think it's cos he walks r e a l l y slowly and does everthing else at really leisurely pace.

They see him gliding down the mall at totoise speed and recognise a kindred spirit.

Yes, but with socks--surely that alone should identify me as British.

Do you speak bollocks into a mobile phone handsfree kit during important meetings? Scrub that...do you no longer turn up to important meetings unless they involve you being paid an annual large of sum of money for doing **** all...?

You also need the knotted handkerchief to protect the shaved head plus a few tattoos on show....

Story of the last 10 years of my life...minus the dish dash.... what usually happens is that people speak Arabic to me, I answer in English, they ask me why, I say because I am GERMAN, they ask "Are you sure? Are you really sure you are not Lebanese, Palestinian etc. In the end they do not believe me.
Oh and some guy then started speaking Turkish to me...very odd I thought...didn't recognize the language actually, he thought that my parents were Turkish....My family has lived in Germany since the 1400's...he did not believe me either.

Do you drag your housemaid and nanny around the shopping mall with you and then force them to watch while you consume three Big Macs while they get none or is it simply the tinted glass on your SUV windows?
