If you were PM...

If you were PM...
Based on all the politics being discussed, if you were PM and leader of a political party what would your policies be. Kix you may refrain from this thread
But seriously I think so many of the parties are blurred these days, I don't feel there are any parties that actually represent what the public wants or needs. So what policies would you like to see and what would you vote for?

I'd be like a Mubarak - take 10% of everything and stay in power by being america's puppet.
I'd also pick a random ethnic and religious group to suppress - probably easiest to go for UK's native gypsies.

Secondly I would lower the retiral age - for example I am a teacher. I am expected now to work to my late sixties to receive my pension. Would you like your child being taught by a 67 year old teacher? I love my job but it is physically/ mentally demanding and I do not think I will be able to do it to the best of my ability when I am in my late sixties - however there are plenty of young graduates who could and are ready to fill my shoes.
Lastly although I could go on forever - I would take the work ethic from Dubai and take it to Britain. People are placed in jobs here and work hard - today's unemployed need to work!

Fish-n-Chips must not be oily and the fish morsel should not separate from the batter when you start eating it.

On a serious note I would drop all personal income tax and increase VAT, the more you spend the more you pay.
I'd limit all allowances (I'd much rather pay zero to the work-shy scroungers but hey ho), to basic needs, I wouldn't pay child benefit to more than 2 or maybe 3 kids, certainly wouldn't build an 8 bedroom mansion cos some baby machine has 17 different coloured kids.
If people turn down 3 jobs they lose all their benefits, also I would stop child benefit for all those earners above a certain limit.
No-one can get any benefits until they have paid into the economy for a number of years.
Introduce skills based job training schemes whereby kids learn a valuable skill in life (as mentioned above), be it plastering, building, plumbing, printing, welding, metal fabrication - basically a trade that allows our workforce to build something tangible and sale-able so the economy is not based around service industries and The City.
I would give Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland full independence, none would get any subsidy from England - we'd move the Trident Sub base from the Clyde to maybe Dartmouth or Plymouth, even Barrow In Furness. As the North Sea Oil Fields are in International waters (more than 12 miles off-shore (I think, but am prepared to be corrected)), I would continue pumping it through Aberdeen but they would charge the Oil Companies for the pleasure of it. If the oil companies wanted to lay longer pipes, so be it.
I'd leave the EU, totally, utterly and completely - it's not done Switzerland or Norway any harm has it?
Get rid of all the quasi-managers in the Civil Service including the NHS, employ more Nurses, Sisters, Operating Theatre Staff etc. - people who actually make a difference to the patient experience.
I'd not allow private parking contractors - this would be owned by the council only.
Courts would have minimum sentences that they cannot go below and all previous crimes should be brought to the attention of the Magistrates/Judges/Jurys at the summing up.
All immigrants (from a specific list of countries - we don't want to penalise genuine holiday makers) would have to apply for visas and pay a refundable deposit and prove they had the means to live in England without working. Visas would be for a maximum of 30 days.
Any MP that is found guilty of ANY offence (including fiddling their expenses) will be sacked immediately, no continuing until the next election, no pension, no severance pay and forced to give up any State supplied benefits.
Get rid of the European Human Rights bollocks, kick out Qatada and his ilk.
Thats my first 10fils with Kitty, I'm sure you wholeheartedly agree!

No oil or gas gets pumped to, or transported through, Aberdeen.

North Sea oil fields would be within International Waters, but also within what would become the Exclusive Economic Zone of Scotland which stretches 200 nautical miles from the coastline, but can stretch further based on the continental shelf.

Re: If you were PM...
The fact nothing comes through Aberdeen was the result of some ludicrous local government decision making in the early 70's.

Based on the appallingly high levels of UK voter apathy, I'd make proper teaching of politics, political history and the mechanics of the UK system compulsory.
It seems that most people, especially much of the younger generation, understand little and feel disconnected. That really needs to change.

Personally, I'd ban elections and opposition groups. People don't really want democracy - they think they do.

Not much point if people still don't understand what goes on.
