So next week back in the UK yuk and then the week after I am straight off to Alex for the first time assuming that the place hasn't burned down

So just for amusements sake, can you still get Carlsberg in Alex as I will have to do it ?

Dunno, but you used to be able to when I was last there, which was 16 years ago. All the main hotels had bars, as well as some of the grotty ones.

Let me know if the Cecil Hotel's casino is still operating, will you. I like to think I closed it down single-handedly.

16 years ago is more up to date info than a 1944 film or whenever it was so all is good

I watched the film a few months ago. Typical English wooden acting for the era, implausibly coiffured love interests, decent Germans, equally decent Brits, and that endearing British quality of doing the right thing before the officially-correct thing. Jolly good chaps all round.

I was there staying at the Sofitel - its a nice hotel with a bit of character (esp the old lift).

You can get a carlsberg in Alex but you do realise the original drink was Rheingold in the book ?

Sadly I didn't but I do remember the condensation running down the glass in the movie and carlsberg it shall be

Bit risky at the mo ? Why not go somewhere NICE, like Croydon ?
