I should know this, but is the night before Hijri New Year dry?
So I have some friends over for a few days and I noticed that Sunday 2nd is New Year. Does this make Saturday 1st dry.

I think it is, normally it is isn't it?
Either way, Auto once shared this website, which always makes me chuckle; Is it a dry night?

Well thats the start of Muharram and 9th and 10th of Muharram are (I think) dry nights
but having said that, this area is predominantly Sunni
the 1st probably isnt dry

Well in all fairness, no one blames Ali. Even the Sunnis hold him in very high regard. If you boil it down to the basics then it was the Qurra people who were responsible for it to start with. The people from that region (modern day iraq, syria, levant area etc) have always been mischievous in nature. I am not being racist by any means. I am just basing the observation based on statistics. It is in their blood to cause mischief. Not all of them obviously but again, stats and facts do support a lot of observations.
Guess what the Qurra people are called these days?
I remember doing a very through indepth detail of the Battle of Karbala a very very long time ago and there was this one guys name which kept on popping up again and again as the main 'behind the scene' instigator. Ill try and find it again mate.
p.s. check out the part about what the color red denotes in Bahrain's flag

On an individual basis they all do mate
90% of them do infact
but the ones that dont are both towards the extreme right side of their relative spectrums I guess
and I think for laymans terms the answer is 'they kill some of ours and we kill some of theirs' and that was the start of the vicious cycle innit
violence will always beget more violence

PS The night before Hiriji will be dry. Don't care what Ali says.
PPS The average bar dweller will need a hand to work this one out "Well thats the start of Muharram and 9th and 10th of Muharram are (I think) dry nights
but having said that, this area is predominantly Sunni
the 1st probably isnt dry"
Thx Bi

After living in the Gulf it's hard to argue with you.
Call it racism if you want (Auto?) but I call it a pragmatic understanding of how various cultural groups have a culturally ingrained approach towards many things in life (business, religion, culture, whatnot).
I guess the question is now whether generations (spanning hundreds and even thousands of years) of a certain type of cultural understanding can affect your own neurosis and the wiring of people's brains, easily transmitting the same sentiments to the next generation, not just culturally but even through genetics. In other words, is there a genetic predisposition to have certain attitudes and beliefs and behaviours? And can that genetic predisposition be strengthened over multiple generations so it manifests itself in certain cultural groups?
The term "in the blood" has been around for millennia. Perhaps our ancestors weren't as ignorant as we like to think them.
Ok, maybe not a question for a Thursday afternoon and I have a flight coming up soon.
