which "toffs" was that then, bc...?
think the only point i ever remember anyone making was that it's not like you "own" a racehourse, it's a pretty minute investment in the grand scheme of horse racing, with a large number of people in the synicate, that doesn't even give you a leg of a horse (and yes, i did see and was offered the same package) so even if you got your investment back - which is great - it's not like you can retire now or anything...!

and no I don't own a racehorse, but I could if I wanted to and had enough money!! I could own up to 50% of any of the syndicate horses if I could afford too, but I can't. This works for us and is great fun. Next year I am planning on making a bigger investment into Clasp if possible looking at taking 20% ownership of him.

your right there, this guy is a seasoned horse racing expert, I wouldn't even know where to start with betting on line etc.

And I guess it's not just the investment thing is it ? But the general excitement and involvement which must add to the racing here where you can't (officially) bet. It's even worse here cos you can't drink either . . .

Are you place bets from UK based (or anywhere that allows you to bet really) bookies on races held in the UAE?

Congratulations on the win BC.
Can't imagine a race course without the bookies ring though. I used to work on the squash bar for three years of Ascot and Belmont race courses in Perth when I was a teenager. It was right in the middle of the bookies ring and it was the most exciting place on the track. The bookies also gave big tips to the squash girls on a good day, so it was a great place to work.
