season 1 was ok 2 not bad but 3 and 4 are up there with the worst tv ever made. thank **** its over, the last episode was as bad and cliched as the very worst of us tv. at least 1 and 2 had the bonus of frequent romps to keep my interest season 4 had only 1 redeming factor......the end credits and the hope that they will never attempt another series
ha ha I cant stand JRM, dont know how he ever got the part, just not right.

he was ok for a young henry but anything past henry at 25 is just daft, he just doesnt have the ability to portray such a powerful character

There's a brilliant episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm where Larry uses that word and ends up in a lot of trouble.

The Americans don't see that word as anything like as bad as we do - they use it almost to mean 'slut' (a very slutty slut, but that's all).

The girl-next-door that Kevin Spacey fancies in 'American Beauty' uses it two or three times to a couple of her mates.

I must admit I don't really understand why some swear words are more offensive etc. Generally the air around me is blue but people hardly notice as they are just dropped into everyday conversations and I don't emphasize them- just my limited vocabulary!

But really how offensive is it to call some one a willy ( knob, cock, dick)or fanny (pussy, ******, twat) or someone who has sex (you f**ker, mother f**ker) or someone who is gay (poof, arse bandit etc)?? Calling some one a sh1t is more so as I don't like sh1t. But the others really don't bother me. The most offencive one would be ponce, as obviously its not a nice meaning. Why people get so upset about ****** I have no idea...

I remember at school when swear words were dramatic- you knob jockey, you dick weed, and various other ones I can't recall but we certainly didn't go around calling each other f**kers!

Which one? Supercilious or ******?

The Yanks I have met (granted, the majority are Texans) absolutely detest the word ******. Guys and Girls....

what's the worse way to die by execution do you reckon...?

Anything that takes a long time and hurts a lot. Crucifixion is probably overall the worst as it can take several days.

For sheer pain factor being burnt at the stake is probably the worst (after being married to the wrong woman of course ) but that's generally over in a few minutes if they get the fire up good and proper.

Most of these methods are extinct though - it's interesting to note that the countries that still use brutal methods of execution are almost entirely Islamic...I think that's what you get when you have a legal system that reputes divine origin and is therefore immutable...

What about being sawed in half. Have seen this method many times in books and in museums etc. Basically the person being executed is hung upside down with his legs spread. Then a giant two man saw is used by two people located on either side of the condemed person and they proceed to saw the condemed person in half, starting at the anus and making their way slowly and agonisingly through the stomach and chest and up towards the head. The agony is compounded by the fact that the person is upside down so the blood drains towards the vital organs, prolonging the agony.

i totally disagree...the "c" word is always aggressive, and i would reckon is one more people would take offence over than any others...

but ponce...that's not in the slightest bit offensive as far as i'm aware...i know it has various meanings, but it's used in the context of every day convo, "can i ponce a ciggie", "can i ponce a fiver"...
