hung, drawn and quartered...

...was a really nasty way to die, hadn't ever really thought about what it involved before, but someone has just been executed in this way on the tudors...must say, it made the beheading afterwards look like a breeze...

that old henry was a mean vindictive sod, wasn't he...

what's the worse way to die by execution do you reckon...?

Mmm. What a lovely subject.

I'd say stoning is pretty nasty. That still happens, of course. Then there was the stuff Vlad the Impaler did to people (the clue is in the name). Being torn apart by horses pulling all your limbs off would smart a bit. I reckon HD&G wins, though.

How graphic was the scene you talked about? The one on Braveheart was pretty lame.

i actually couldn't look, lol...it was nasty...the fact that the guy was part hanged first (twice), and then taken down to be quartered, you just can't imagine what your mind is going through in this sort of circumstance...

There was much more...Mel Gibson cut back on it.

At least the women got it easy (!) as they were considered far too delicate to be hung, drawn and quartered…they were generally burnt alive instead.

I figure crucifixion has to be one of the nastiest ways to go. The real method, not the namby pamby one they show in the movies.

The Tudors had another nasty one - peine forte et dure or pressing/crushing. If you refused to say anything you'd have a stone placed under your spine and more and more weights loaded on top of you until you said something or suffocated - but it could take days...

Wikipedia has a scary list! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...tal_punishment

Burning is supposed to be on the most agonising ways to die.

Us humans have got to be the cruelest mofos in the universe.

Ok not quite execution as such but have you seen SAW think it was the 3rd one where the guy is strapped in the machine that twists all your limbs until you skin tears and breaks your bones, arms then legs then neck, made me feel very very ill in the cinema- never quite sure whats going on in the brains of people who write this sort of stuff and I can be quite dark!! Most Stephen King books really freak me out and I used to love them as a kid, they now play on my mind when I'm all alone and see shadows moving... wheres the creepy ghoul smilie?

I'm not sure I would like to choose any really! I've always been scared of being burnt alive so I guess that would be my worst one. Although, the idea of being suffocated is also horrendous, or you could have a combination of being starved and kept in isolation, then executed in whatever way..... that would drive you barmy. Wearing lead boots and drowning, although would be relatively quick must be horrible. It's often the torture beforehand that is soo horrific! To be fair I can't actually think of a pleasant way of being executed!

If I was an evil baddie aka James Bond styley I'd go for the shark invested water tank though.

Not to say execution is lighthearted thing but I can remember the first time I watched the Life of Brian- genius!

What about dying in a natural way, would you like your liver to stop functioning properly? or your lungs to dissolve because of Marlboro (hail Marlboro)? :)
