Howdy!!
 

Well not new to Dubai, But new to the forum. Been here for a year and sadly my employer didn't renew my contract. Nor did i want them to if am being honest. I'm currently job hunting and have been for over a month. I'm looking for some advice and tips from people that have been in the similar position. I have 1 job offer but as you know nothing happens quickly here and as much as i try to hustle things along the quicker it seems to slow. Any advice tips or leads would be gratefully appreciated i really don't want to go back to UK. The Job market there isn't any better and all i will do is pine(sp) to get back here.

Hi and welcome to BE, what line of work are you in? Hope it gets sorted quickly, as you say the prospects at home are no better.

I came out here to Dj a cpl years back. More recently have been looking for a career change. Thought i had secured 1 in Bahrain for the Oil and Gas Industry. Sadly it fell through, And due to chasing that i didnt persue a new venue to Dj in. Sadly Dj'in out here freelance isn't as easy as back home. Just hope i can change careers as going back to 6days of Dj'in the same venue just doesn't inspire me at all :unsure:

I'm more confused as to how you go from playing records (or an iPod these days) to working in oil & gas.

Wasn't always just a daft Jockey!! I do have a brain in my head. It's not what you do it's what you can do. And sorry but i have never and will never own an ipod! Certainly wouldn't use 1 to perform with.

Haha i wasn't so sure but the smile has made me feel a little bit more relaxed about it haha. Where in Dubai are you from?? I used to be resident in a very busy bar in Tecom area. So you may well have heard me play!!

I live in Tecom, however I don't really go clubbing here, I am in fact a sad bastard that lives my life through forums!

happy i don't have to work there, Sad i dont have a salary at the end of every month if that makes sense
