Talking Re: How should you vote in the General Election?

UKIP - 66%
BNP - 52%
Lib Dem - 33%
Conservative - 33%
Green - 17%
Labour - 14%

UKIP I can sympathise with for their stance on Europe. BNP perhaps their tougher stance on crime and punishment? Certainly not immigration. Would never vote for the racist cnuts.

the vagueness of the questions mean its a pretty useless tool.

do I think Asylum seekers should be allowed to work whilst their case is being heard - yes - do I think they should be allowed to work once they have failed - no
do I think people born outside the uk who commit crimes should be deported - no -do I think persistant or serious offenders who do so should be - yes
- should asylum seekers have to carry ID cards - yes (but so should everybody else)

I don't think it is supposed to give definitive answers, just some guidance and not very serious guidance at that. Who'd bother if it had 200+ questions? And would you really cast a vote based on an online questionnaire in a right-wing newspaper??

Did I miss the memo about it being Pedants Day around here today?

Can't work out if your new avatar means your reformation is going well or badly.

And no, you didn't miss the memo, there wasn't one, I brought up the subject in a different thread. Oops, maybe that's a bit pedantic...

as a tory supporter I would rather go by that than what is written in the Broad Sheet version of the Morning Star (Guardian).

I won't be voting anyway as I am not a UK tax payer therefore I don't believe I have the rmoral right to vote.

and its always Pedant's day on here !!

But surely voting's more than just how to raise and spend taxes. I believe I have the right to vote even though I don't pay UK tax (well, I do partly coz the family's back there and there's the council tax, vat, fuel tax etc etc). I have the right--both moral and legal--to vote coz I'm British. My 18-year old son believes my foreign wife (OK, Pedants--that's "my wife, who is foreign", not "my foreign wife as opposed to my UK wife") should have the right to vote coz she lives in the UK--she pays tax on her UK income, and contributes to the economy and various other aspects of the UK, and has permanent right of abode--but she's chosen not to become British, and in my view that means she's no right to vote. I don't think any other country allows non-nationals to vote.

You think its social in here? I've a headache, stubble and I'm possibly still drunk from last night, and definitely anything but social.

I'm fairly sure you've broken that a few times, Miss Mitford.

And in the continuing theme of pedantry: just what does that add to the debate? Zilch.
