How long to get into Stones venue?

For those who've been to many concerts at Yas, any ideas on how long it usually takes to get into the venue. Taking taxi from Dxb and would like to be there when doors open 7.30, so thinking of leaving Dxb 6 / 6.15 but have no idea if there are long car queues at the other end drop off area. Any info much appreciated.

Taxi area is right outside the venue, you'll be good at 7:10 to get into the concert. It'll be dead at that time (I imagine), as most people will rock up before 9.

But how are you getting home? No way you will find a taxi outside unless you leave the gig very early. May be wise to walk to the Yas Plaza Hotel complex and pick one from there.

Best off walking to the airport!!!

They had a fair crack of it at the F1 concerts. Lots of cabs available but huge crowds so still had to queue. They get a 20dh event bonus I think.

But I'd imagine the Stones will be absolutely manic down there

Where is this Stills you talk of? Sounds like that might be the sort of plan I'd prefer over queuing for a cab!

Crowne Plaza on YAS, be about a 10-15 minute walk from the venue.

from the kids' school newsletter:-

A Once in a Lifetime Opportunity!
On Friday, 21 February a group of singers from Al Khubairat were lucky enough to sing
live on stage with one of the most successful bands of all time, The Rolling Stones. Nine students were chosen to perform at the event. Rehearsals were taking place two weeks prior to the event but we were
sworn to secrecy by the event organisers, this was a very difficult secret to keep!
The concert was held at the impressive DU Arena in front of a crowd of over 40,000. The choir were in
rehearsals with the band during the afternoon of the concert and we were all lucky enough to meet the
front man, Mick Jagger as well as guitarists Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards. Our performance was
reserved for the encore, which meant we were able to enjoy most of the concert watching from the very
front row. We were taken back stage fifteen minutes before we were due to perform and handed our ear
pieces. The band completed their set with a fantastic rendition of Brown Sugar and the crowd went wild
screaming for more. This was our cue to take to the stage. Desperately trying to settle our nerves, we
climbed up the steps and took our places on stage. I am sure that everyone who took part will agree that
the feeling of stepping out on stage in front of over 40,000 people is quite indescribable; looking out over
the audience really was a sight to behold. The music began, and there we were, performing on stage with
one of the greatest rock bands in history!
An unforgettable experience for all involved.

Keith Richard said something along the lines of how happy he was to be in Abu Dhabi. Then clarified that at 70, he's happy to be anywhere

Really good concert, just poorly organised in terms of male toilet availability and as usual the beer queue (60dibs a pint / 220 for 4!).

Busiest I've seen that arena by a long shot.

The BSAK choir sang backing vocals for "You Can't Always Get What You Want"....don't recall them singing vocals for "Brown Sugar". They may well have, but it wasn't their defining moment.

it said that ending of Brown Sugar was their cue, not that they sang it?
