Re: How hard do you work here?
About the same for me except how my work is broken down.
In Europe: 90% productive work, 10% office politics, backstabbing, machiavellian schemes and general bribery/corruption.
In ME/North Africa:10% productive work and 90% of all the other shit.
Not sure which one I prefer actually

Minimum 6 day week on this particular project with hours during peak periods of programme along with Eid Holidays , Xmas and whatever else that gets thrown in.
Basically par for the course in the construction industry . I have a very generous leave allowance and a very competitive annual bonus scheme so its worth it .
I'd rather spend my time off away from my working environment if possible

Not exactly a piece of piss but definitely shorter hours and much longer holidays.
Incidentally, categories 2-3-4 in the poll are virtually the same.

Any one from 2-3-4 here as well.
It can vary considerably for me....I travel to other parts of the region at least once a month and 12 hour work days are commonplace while away flying the flag.

I work a lot harder than I did in the UK, but the upside is I enjoy my job a lot more than I did in the UK.
The only downside is that my pay is not based on results/performance.

Re: How hard do you work here?
I understand the difference between workload and hours...
I'd say my workload (i.e. stuff I have to do) is probably about the same, but I now work longer hours as a result of having to work across more time zones and due to the increased level of phaffing that generally needs to be done here.
In London I could quite happily deal with the Middle East and America inside a single working day - now the earliest I can deal with the yanks is 6.30pm. I have to do this at around 3 times a week and it is just annoying.

Re: How hard do you work here?
less workload, more hours (figure that one out ehh) 6am to 5/6pm...generally i find i have about an hour to kip in the back of the pickup mid morning because there's nothing going on...
