How happy and settled are you with life
All this talk of a mid-life crisis etc. combined with economic gloom, got me thinking - how happy are you?
Anonymous poll - and for those that are happy , what makes you so, and for those that are not... a little place to share if you want to.

I put very - have a good job, great boss, stable and supportive home life and a real sense of purpose. Very much looking forward to the future.
Wasn't always this way mind, but age brings some experience on how to handle this stuff - and what to care and not care about.

Well I definitely need a change. And in four weeks' time I get one!

Re: How happy and settled are you with life
Generally happy with my lot, on the plus side I have a pretty varied life and my default setting is to be fairly laid back and calm. I have no financial worries either short or long term so that's good.
On the negative side, I suffer from rootlessness and have a low boredom tolerance so I fear for a future where I'll always need to be moving to the next thing and can't be settled with one place or person.
Deep for a Thursday afternoon

I put in Yup. Life is mostly good even though I'm in Qatar
But I know it's only for a year or so and I'll move on and the money isn't shabby. I've done well professionally and financially and have reasonable expectations of doing better. Life isn't perfect and there are things I'm likely to never have but I've come to terms with it. I don't dwell on the what ifs or regrets.

I'm kind of in inbetween the second and the third, however, hopefully (if something comes off - which is looking like it will) I will be the first one relatively soon.
All in all though, I have a decent and secure job, my health, close family, good friends and the ability to travel when I want to, so you can't really ask much more than that. I'm currently single (but playing the game) and meeting someone special would be great, however, i'm not the type to be desperate or depressed about it.

The only reason it isn't the top one is that I'm not getting sucked into a false sense of security.

Life is mostly good. Pretty happy with the way things are going for me, things seem to be picking up also I believe.
The only thing that bothers me is in which direction I can take my career :/

+1.
Its been 9 years since I have been in the sandpit known as Kuwait. This is the longest I have ever lived in a country (after the age of 7) and the longest I have ever been in a role (previous record was 4 years!). 2017 is definitely the year to move both or retire !

Not had to murder anyone yet, so I'll say it's going pretty good...

Yup. Life is mostly good
Work is good, money is good (Alhumdulillaah) - the only downer is I lost 3 of my closets friends out here who I use to hang out with all the time (lost as in each of them moved back to their respective home countries - one got married, one resigned and one got made redundant) and so I had a great social life....now, not so much.

Weird, us too. Best friends here went last year. Another goes this year. I've stopped working with a couple more and see them rarely now.
