i remember when they kept changing the weekends in the uae, and then back again.....

The only bizarre thing is why it took Oman so long to move into the 20th century. Hopefully, it won't be too long before the UAE leads the region into the 21st century by having civilised Saturday & Sunday weekends. By then the KSA will still be back in the Middle Ages.

Pakistan has a saturday/sunday weekend. This means that everybody, except the non muslim western expats, is allowed to have most of Friday off to pray and then two days for the weekend.

That's as maybe, but I very much doubt it'll ever happen in the UAE. Pakistan's weekend is a legacy of colonial times.

we (as far as I know) have to work an extra day on Thursday 02 May, so 6 day working week, then get a weekend.
