I work for an company(American) in DIC and we will not get a lieu day as Christmas Day is not a recognised holiday, normally I have to use my vacation allowance to book christmas day off, so for me this year is a bonus.....

Is it a local company though? It's in our contract we get one day off in december for a 'religious holiday'.

Did you get easter sunday off?

Nope its not a local company, and no we do not get a "religious day", we get the standard 22 days as per UAE Labour Law and then the public/religious holidays as per the UAE which is published on the Government Websites....

We may get a lieu day for 1st January as this is a recognised holiday in the UAE, but then this is dependant on what the government announces normally the week before......
