Default Holiday logic

With an unusual display of good sense the Government moved Islamic New Year to Sunday:

Returning to usual form, this doesn't apply to the private sector:

this is one thing that really bloody annoys me, it is not as if it is directed at Muslims either. I have plenty of Muslim friends who work in the Private sector and they miss out on holidays. Why do they do it?

it's just ridiculous, the uae is trying to be an international hub for business and finance, and yet they can't even set the official holidays in advance...total pain in the arse...

Sorry, being a bit simple:

I work in a Brit curriculum fee paying school.

a) will we be off thursday and sunday?
b) if so, does this mean our planned holiday next tuesday will be cancelled out?

Thanks

Neighbour's children at JESS at Arabian Ranches have been told next Tuesday off for Islamic New Year.

We're trying to sort out some stuff in Muscat at the moment and it's a nightmare - even worse than here when it comes to holidays being announced.
