Holiday Ideas?

I have the travel bug and fancy going somewhere nice this year, somewhere amazing, somewhere beautiful and breathtaking, somewhere that is still cheap where you can live like a king for a fiver and somewhere that isn't infested with tourists, I'm thinking east as well or north, but not west.

I mean somewhere undiscovered, like a little treasure, any ideas. Also where to book holidays from here online, I used to use travelbag back home but that is only 'from' UK.

Thailand was high on my list, but friends have told me it's infested with tourists?

Who to book through, what are the costs?

to be fair, where we went was touristy (as we had baby)

Speak to Spgsy, he has done a lot of travelling around Thailand and may have a better insight..

Thailand is infested with tourists but you can still get away from it all by finding your own little hideaway in the form of a beach hut or jungle bungalow... Up north is great and lots of slightly more remoter islands or parts of islands if you search for them...

Otherwise check out Laos, like a less populated version of thailand, South Western China - Guillin, Yangshao, Dali City, Ljibiang are amazing and not so well visited, well certainly not be westerners... Lots of mates reckon Vietnam is amazing, not been... South America? Nepal?

Depends what floats yer boat really...

Sana'a, then hadramout and then socotra island.

Or try Libya, Iran or a few weeks travelling around Syria or Jordan even.

And if you want a unique holiday, don't book through a travel website...just go and do it :-)

Andaman Islands, Mozambique or Madagascar.

all on my list this year. I'd also like to go to Nicobar Islands but currently you can only go if you are an Indian citizen.

I want to go out of the ME to be honest and I wouldn't go to Iran if you paid me.

rubbish, loads and loads of tiny amazing islands with not many tourists, I've been to 5 or 6 places, love it.

Just avoid Phuket and you'll be grand.
