This actually made me think of an incident a fair few years ago in the Uk. I was shopping with a friend and as we progressed through the mall between us we held a string of a bout 5 of 6 door open for the same woman, every time she just breezed through with out any acknowledgement.

When we got the last door for the car park we passed through and my friend just let go once we had passed, said lady came through behind us all stroppy and announced at the top of her voice “if there was gentlemen present he would have held the door for a lady” …. My friend’s response ….. “if there was lady present he would have”

Petty I know but it still makes me smile….

I was actually discussing this subject with a friend over the weekend, common decency & good manners cost nothing, car doors, entrance doors etc. should always be opened for women (unless she is wider that an American fridge/freezer !) - Then you have to open both doors !

Off the back of that though the courtesy should also be recognized by a thank you or some other form of gracious acknowledgment, at least the first time it.
Only if aforementioned chicanista knows how to get outta the car without displaying her drawers....
