I would love to give you the answers to your questions but at the minute I cant type very well due to The fact that my manicureis still drying, also I have just spilled a glass of champers on the floor, so have had to call my maid from the kitchen to clean it up. Oh well as a matter of fact I never drink alcohol on Friday brunch, it dries up my skin and I usually had plenty of mojitos the night before 
.
By the way people: there ARE other delicious cocktails in this world, no harm in trying. Nope, "champagne" mojito doesn't count, Mon Hamour...
Pegu club is good place to get inspired.
And, finally, THIS is where I go with this for my brunches! I can give a big happy F 'bout Dubai's drinking&driving ever-changing policy!

...which kind of walks straight into the argument that the swankier the place you drink at, the higher up the class structure you are..
...which is, at the very least, condescending and, since I can safely assume you have never drank in a working mans club with the 'common people', verging on pretentious..

Totally agree with the point you're making - all that "pretentious wanker" stuff is a crass generalisation and possibly just jealousy showing itself in another form. Still....that's quite a confession for a site like this - fair play to you.

I was in Old Town at weekend, the notice on the door says Hive is closed due to a change in trading conditions in Souk Al Bahar.
