I bottled joing the Navy as an Artificer in 2001, think I would have enjoyed it, but now have a job I'm happy with and the perfect wife, so I guess I can't complain.

I wanted to be a stuntman too when I was about 12 (that was after my phase of wanting to be a lighthouse keeper).

I used to try rolling down the (concrete) internal staircase at school to see how it would be. I didn't do it too many times.

I'm still not 100% sure but will let you know when I grow up

One option would be writing of some sort, but I am now lucky enough to have a couple of freelance writing jobs, albeit about personal finance. I'd have prefered something a little more artistic, so maybe a writer of cookbooks, as that encompasses several of my interests - writing, cooking & photography.

You?

I'd be training race horses, but what I always really wanted to be was a TrustFunder.

If it wasn't for Iraq, would you feel the same? I bottled it twice and re-applied twice before I realised I didn't have the balls for it (not that I would have expected to be involved in conflict, it was the long times away I was worried about - at the same time as wanting to travel - and ending up abroad anyway!)

i loved it, worked my way through the ranks and made it to a weapons engineer officer. Have totally no regrets whatsoever. I look back at 'Iraqi Freedom' (politics aside) as the one opportunity to put into practice what we trained for.

Why wouldnt you have expected to be involved in conflict as an Artificer? I was in the Navy when we were deployed in hostile operations on 3 seperate conflicts. ("we" being the Navy, not me personally)

i left Faslane in September 2002 and returned in June 2003. Too long to be away.

I wouldn't mind being a belted earl with a stately pile, even if it means eating beans and toast and driving ancient cars in order to pay for the roof repairs.

But sadly that's not going to happen.

I'd settle for having my own successful landscape architecture firm based in a converted barn somewhere in the southwest of England.
