Highest Paid Footballer

Re: Highest Paid Footballer
Maybe he is on the wane, but even now, if the rest of the England team tried half as much as he does every time he steps on a football pitch, and showed the same passion for wearing the 3 Lions shirt, despite all his wealth and fame, we would win every competition we went in for !!
Whatever you think of him, his wife, or his eloquence (and he has improved about 100% from when he first came on the scene with regards public speaking . interviews), he's a fantastic role model, consumate professional and puts a lot back into football, certainly in London for under priveleged kids, with his soccer schools, and regularly attends them / coaches there
He could teach a lot of footballers a thing or two, ...and no Im not a Man U fan or a Spice Girls fan, before you say it...

I agree with BangleMan,I think DB is a fantastic role model, and wish other pro's would show the same passion on the pitch as he does.I was very happy for him to get his 100 caps.
In terms of famous Scottish footballers, here are the ones worthy of mentioning,IMHO:
Kenny Dalglish
Graeme Souness
Alan Hansen
Archie Gemmill
Dennis Law
Ally McCoist.
and of course....
Stuart McCall.
Yes, they are all old school, none from the present day come anywhere near those mentioned above.

Pure talent it as to be Gazza. He would have been a legend if is wasn't for injuries. Oh and he should have been a Man Utd player!

Who? And who on earth said that Gazza was pure class...an over-rated fatty more like. The best technician I have ever had the pleasure to watch in my lifetime (which includes George Best) was Georgie Kinkladze, a pure genius whom few of you will probably remember. My most enjoyable moment was watching England thrash Scotland 5-1 at Wembley with Gerry Francis among the scorers. That and watching my team beat Huddersfield 10-1 but that was in a lower league.

Gazza p*ssed all over Kinkladze, who was to be fair brilliant. NEver seen anyone in the flesh as skillful or breathakingly good (and that includes gazza, beardley) as Ginola in his first season at the Toon, he was unbelievable.
who is your team anyway? City?

Re: Highest Paid Footballer
Gordon is very good, but not in the world class bracket.
For me the biggest waste of talent was Stan Collymore. He had every attribute needed - skill, strength, score with either foot, speed, good in the air etc. Some of the goals he scored at Forest were just unbelievable.
