Why not?

**** 'em. You're driving and paying (I know...) for the petrol. Your choice of surroundings.

Driving a Toyota by any chance? I had that annoying issue in a RAV 4, but the Honda just bleeps one or twice and is then blessedly silent.

Depends on how you measure it. Some sources say as many as one person a month dies on the Nurburgring. That's pretty bad for a 'public' road that is only open at most 40 hours a week and is 14km long. AD to Dubai is say 90km, open 24 hours a day with thousands of vehicle movements.

The new ones stop after a couple of beeps. My old one beeped all the time.

As annoying as they were - I now get a lot more speeding fines than I used to.

The Nurburgring is a fairly challenging circuit full of nasty decreasing radius bends and no run off areas, a different prospect to a mainly straight motorway that can be designed to allow high speeds.

Agreed, but during Touristfahrten it is a public road subject to the German traffic rules and regulations, not a racing circuit.
