Default Health insurers refusing to deal with EHL from 1st Feb?

I've just read that apparently, a large number of health insurance companies will be refusing to pay for any treatment at EHL hospitals and clinics as of 1st Feb, when EHL is meant to be introducing eye-watering new charges.

Does anybody know any more about this? We're with Daman, which is quoted as being one of the companies that's definitely pulling out of dealing with EHL; we currently have an additional 20% co-pay at EHL locations, so it wouldn't surprise me if Daman is going to be saying "khalas".

We've almost exclusively used Welcare medical facilities since we've been here, so it would be a shame if we had to stop now, but I guess they're already significantly more expensive than most other places (hence our 20% extra).

You get what you pay for and will further comment later, also getting approvals from Daman is like drawing teeth in my very recent and ongoing experience.

Not a massively helpful comment in the context of the thread. Do you actually have information about this situation?

We've never had any problems getting approvals from Daman.

Sorry about that but it's ongoing issue with a CT scan And MRI scan, which at the end of the day were worse than useless, but I will def comment later

The approvals EVENTUALLY seem to come through but getting there is an horrendous exercise in my case, my specialist just cannot understand some of the information they request and has had many discussions, sometimes heated with them.

Obviously not every case is the same but asking around others with Daman seem to have had similar issues. I will give examples when everything is completed.

Be very interested to know if this is correct as my company insurance is AXA and I've always used EHL. Never had a problem with authorisation although it's generally for regular medication which is a bit over 1000 Dhm.

Exactly. Why do people use such abbreviations in a general forum?

There was an announcement about this a couple of weeks back, stating that 16, I think local, insurers, would be stopping approving treatment at a number of facilities but no names were mentioned.

I'll see if I can find the article.

Medical insurance companies are businesses so it is not surprising they don't want to pay over the odds for treatment. Your premiums go up every year as hospitals and clinic here put up prices annually and medical insurance inflation is running at around 10% pa already.

if you don't know it then it won't affect you. They are based (mostly) in new Dubai. Always have a big EHL sign outside.

Anyway, I don't care - my employer self insures and isn't bothered by minor details such as the costs.
