"The issue here is that this girl has undesirable levels of testosterone - what does it matter? That is neither here nor there. She does not have a womb - so what?"

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

...so no womb to manoeuvre then ?

If s/he can't run with men nor women in the Olympic Games, for example, do we need a hermaphrodite Olympics, as we already have the Gay Olympics and the Special Olympics. Though s/he is special or different, the last Olympic category might be wholly inappropriate. Others with his/her condition have just been told to give up competitive sport.

Give up? That's what seems to be the inevitable conclusion people are coming to.

I feel sorry for him/her (no, let's say 'her') - she isn't a drug cheat, she hasn't tried to barge an opponent to the ground, etc............ but it is quite clear that she has a significant male element to her (undescended testes? no wonder she hasn't got a womb - there's no room for one), and she cannot be allowed - fairly - to compete as a woman. So that's it then.

Suspicions were raised long before the World Champs though - but an improvement of SEVEN SECONDS off her PB in just three weeks is unaccountable. At the speed the elite ladies run the 800m (about 7m per second), that's roughly a FIFTY METRES improvement! Not normal, and the whole sorry affair is a complete mess.

I really do feel for the runner. Imagine having your gender questioned and plastered all over the media!

I read that DNA was done, which revealed that she is a true hermaphrodite.

I didn't read anything to explain what the actual DNA findings were.

My money is on 46XY intersex due to androgen insensitivity syndrome. It's really not that rare!

Re: he-she

this whole problem could be stopped by ending the sexist system of having men and women separated in sports. Equality means equality not separation!
