Have a look at my pussy....
It's a long shot but i am getting pretty desperate so...
I am leaving Dubai after almost 12 years, it's a forced move and one that i definitely hadn't planned for.
My 2 cats will need a new home, at least for a few months till i am settled back in Holland, but currently i have no idea where i will end up.
So...if anybody knows anyone who wants my cats, please let me know. Obviously they are very well behaved, fully litter trained, very affectionate, low maintenance cats, used to both villas and apartment living.

Why are you leaving? Another victim of the downturn that isn't officially happening?
Hope you get yourself sorted.

Re: Have a look at my pussy....
Just to clarify, you are looking for a temporary home for your cats only for a few months while you move back to Holland and get settled in? Or are you looking for a permanent home?
Is it feasible to fly the kitties with you and board them somewhere in the Netherlands? Family/friends there?
If not, I think your challenge is that people might be afraid you're doing a runner, promising to collect the cats in a few months but once you're out of the country you never contact them again.

On the practial side, i have no place to go in Holland so will be staying with family for the time being, who do not want cats.
So taking them with me now isn't an option, otherwise i would have.
Once i am settled, i would like to have them with me. That's the scenario.

Re: Have a look at my pussy....
I know someone who shipped his cat to the US on KLM, via Amsterdam. He did everything on his own and the cost of shipping the cat was very reasonable and worked out to just another 500 or so AED on top of his airfare, as the cat went with him as accompanied baggage. He did have to be careful in making sure all the export paperwork was sorted out from the local vet clinics and Dubai Municipality.
KLM has a fantastic reputation with shipping pets. So don't lose hope in terms of cost. It doesn't have to cost you 5-10,000 AED.
Frankly, I think the best thing is to get the cats to Holland with you as accompanied baggage on your flight out of Dubai. If you leave them here and want to collect them later, it will cost a fortune to have to ship them separately. I'd focus on finding somewhere in Holland who can take the cats temporarily. Is there something like the RSPCA in the Netherlands? If you're able to pay for their feed and donate something to the charity while you find a place to live? You mentioned staying with family? Do they have a garden? Can you arrange for a temporary pen or cage that the cats can live in for a few months until you sort out your new accommodation?
The alternative is beg, blackmail, bribe friends here to take the cats for a few months. I suppose you could fly back and collect the cats and take them back as accompanied baggage and it'd probably be cheaper than shipping them.
I do wish I could help but I'm off to Doha by end of September as it seems.
Edit: if you go on facebook and look for Diana Tattarakis, she specialises in kitty rescuing and rehoming. I know she has a large outdoor pen. She may be willing to take in your cats for a few months if you make it clear you will come back for them (and offer to pay for their upkeep in the meantime, a hundred or so per month for the food and water). She may say no. But it might be worth trying.

Fair questions...my issue is financial, as ex won't pay for my shipment and i hadn't planned on moving so for now i have no money to take them.
