Has Anyone Ever Tried...?
That heading caught my eye on the Aussie Forum...something about chicken and beer...cannot quite get to grips with the concept.

Yes, heard about it a few years ago and thought it was a joke. Gave it a shot anyway and it is awesome! Load half a can of beer with any spices etc you fancy (cajun/cayenne or whatever) and then sit the chicken on top so that it is upright in the oven/BBQ.
Roast the chicken and when done, the beer will have evaporated into the chicken meat so its really juicy.
We actually bought a beer chicken pan when we lived in Aus which removes the need for the can, and has a tray to catch fat etc that drips off.
Try it - you'll be surprised!

Rest I can't help you with.

Re: Has Anyone Ever Tried...?
Place can basically up the chickens bum...the evaporation from the beer with any included spices seaps into the chicken from the inside keeping it moist, doing it from the outside just penetrates the skin and makes it soggy rather than moist meat inside
Lamb and Beef ...don't think so unless you have a full beast and a keg of beer

Re: Has Anyone Ever Tried...?
The beer can will not melt as it is made of aluminium (melting point approx 550 C, oven temp 180 C). The can has been opened and spice poured in, therefore will not explode. As it cooks, the evaporating alcohol/water vapour mixture will rise through the body cavity of the chicken, thus enfusing flavour. The method could not easily be adapted to beef or lamb because you need a cavity within the meat that is reasonably well sealed. A large strip of beef could conceivably be used, if wrapped into a conical shape and sealed with tinfoil.

Ist No- the can is open and it won't melt, this is better done on the BBQ or the Oven, you can get devises that can hold the lot off the main heat sourse
