Re: Happy National Day
maybe...
well, they made the transcision from being a 3rd world country with no roads, just camels in a few decades...maybe you cannot expect them to have the same attitude towards safety as we have in 'the West', having slowly been eased into the whole issue...cause I really don't think that parents here have a 'I don't care if my child lives or dies' attitude. Maybe it takes time to develop some sort of common sense that we think is normal but has actually taken a lot of time to become part of the way we operate.

I am sure there are plenty of other religions that take the same attitude when someone dies...'it was the will of god' is not a sentence that is never used, apparently it gives people solace to think this way and it's not excusive to Islam.
Apart from the dangerous driving, I like the whole National Day thing...I think it's quite cool that young people show their love for their country and their rulers...

No - to the post immediately before as "Koninginnedag" is "Queen's Day", I hadn't read through to the second page when I posted.
In any case, I don't think the little voices in my head read BE, so obviously there's no point posting stuff here for them...

Re: Happy National Day
Or maybe someone's just unhappy about being at work?
Some countries don't even HAVE a national day.
If we were to ban days where people acted like ****s, then Nottingham would be closed for good. OK- parts of it
And no more hen nights (yaaay).
And no more football matches.
And no more Ford Escorts.
