Re: Halfway through 2011. How has it been for you?
Started off great, went really shite, was fine, shiter, stressy, fine, shitey, stressy, looking up, stressy, expensive...
I've had better years but I've not had such an exciting year for a long time. Plus, having gone through a really traumatic end 2009/frst half 2010 due to my boy's health problems this one does actually seem much better... I'd give it a surprising 6 or 7 out of 10 - not bad for a year which saw me become unemployed in a (very) strange land. I really hope the rest of the year whips back up an 8/9. I could do with one of those. If two things come off (fingers crossed) then I really think it will be. :fingerscrossed: |
Re: Halfway through 2011. How has it been for you?
I'm going to give it a 5 but I'm currently sitting on an 8 and feeling much more content than I did for 90% of the first half of the year. I wouldn't fancy doing the last 6 months again but on the basis of what doesn't kill you....and all that crap, I reckon I'm the better for having gone through it and sorted a few things out along the way. High hopes for the next 6 months - let's hope the excrement doesn't hit the fan in Bahrain again and screw it all up!

Compared with this time last year in Libya.... 10/10
Compared with 2 years ago in Nigeria....3/10 Horses for courses. Things work here - like the electricity, the water, the roads are good etc, but everything is so false, temporary or manufactured to their ideal. |

A bit like lullabelle's. At least I've found a job again, although I might have to work in Hitchin. Wherever the **** that is.

4-10. Lost a good friend in a car accident. Hating it in Doha currently. Family not happy with me.
Getting on the beer too much. Wife and kids leaving soon for Ramadan. But at least they are healthy. Oh yes and no chance of England winning World Cup in NZ. |

Re: Halfway through 2011. How has it been for you?
On 1 January did I have any expectations that six months later I would be living in London, working as a corporate stooge and taking regular work trips to corporate hotels across Europe?
No. But its worked out great so far. It has been a catalyst year in terms of earning power and future prospects. Reuniting with old friends, dating again and all that. So, 8 out of 10. |
