It also costs thousands to go through a robust enough process for the death penalty with all the appeals and the like - as proven in the USA. And even the slightest chance of sending the wrong person to the gallows is enough reason to discount capital punishment, IMO.

I agree with that, they would have to be 100% certain they had the right person.

Yeah but killing them is too easy - I would want the bastard to suffer for a long, long time if that girl was my sister/daughter/wife

If they swing, and I'm convinced there will be a few attempts at springing them -if they swing it'll be becos of UAE pressure..i.e don't think you can launder your dirty washing on our turf....
