Green Cross Code.

Wish they'd teach labourers how to cross a road over here. Nearly wiped out one tonight at the small roundabout at the back Side of jlt.

Just as a gap openned up for me to enter the roundabout the fecktard walked across in front of my car from the right. There is no pedestrian access at the roundabout. Luckily. Just spotted him in time and managed to hit the brake instead of the loud pedal!

So close.

Friend of mine got caught J walking in Deira. Crossed the road not at a pedestrian crossing and plain clothes copper caught at the other side. 210 Dhm fine, not payable on the spot, copper took EID and you have to go to HQ near T2 to pay and pick up.

Smart move. Labourers only get you 2 points.

That's got to be a decent score because the damage will deserve it. 7 points.

I don't think anything other than royalty gets 10.

You realise that you were responsible to give way to him.

"Where there is a Give Way sign, there will also be a broken white line across the path of approaching traffic. You must ‘Give Way’ to any vehicle or pedestrian crossing your path." RTA Road code

Maybe he was assuming that you knew the road rules and would give way to him?

Have you seen the roundabout in JLT?

How does it differ to any other roundabout in the world?

I've seen some pretty crazy ones in this region, and they all work very efficiently except when someone breaks rule, like going the wrong direction.

Pushing in is def allowed so is changing lanes, all acceptable.
As long as you yield to cars and pedestrians.

It's a building site roundabout with those road blocking red/white things all around it. Can't walk on it or round it and there are no markings.

Crossing it is absolutely taking your chances.

Except all of those west of Saudi (Egypt, for example), where traffic entering the roundabout has right of way. Guaranteed gridlock.

You're joking aren't you? How utterly ridiculous.

Explains why many people think that they have right of way to push into a lift before others have gotten out. The logical inconsistency of this does my head in.....

Its unfortunately true and definitely the way in Jeddah. Riyadh traffic is crazy enough, but in Jeddah you literally just close your eyes when youre being driven around :-(
