What idiot wrote the original list? Ladykillers, I agree, but no Italian Job? No Morecambe and Wise films? (yes I'm serious!) Even Norman Wisdom and a few of the Carry ons.

Tony Hancock "The Rebel". Hang dog and put upon, he puts pretension into its place.

Recent British "comedies" leave me wondering are we are laughing more at the director's and writer's clunkiness than the content of the film

I think you'll find he's still alive and kicking. He used to live near me in Epsom but think he's permanent on the IOM now. He's got to be around 95 now. Lovely guy.
