Check out one of my favourite blogs.

Compare and contrast between arrival in Dubai and possible departure of this freelance journalist / photographer...

Dubai Arrivals

...I was just reading an article about Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum in the weekend magazine of the Sydney Morning Herald (1/11/2008), which says that his Highness has a television monitor that allows him to see the arrivals hall at Dubai airport.

He can zoom in and check the rates at which queues of incoming passengers are moving...and, if he is unhappy with progress, he will phone up the airport and ask such things as "Why is the third counter so slow?"

Good stuff. Really gives a good sense of the enigmas and contradictions of Dubai.
